Jovanka Steele – Adventures in Europe-Land
Heerlijke Amerikaanse stand-up doorspekt met geweldige personages! Deze formidabele Gents-Amerikaanse comédienne is al jarenlang een graag geziene gast op de Feesten en reisde al een heel stuk van Europa rond met haar nieuwste show. Nu speelt ze haar volledige one woman show eindelijk in haar thuisstad.
In haar show antwoordt Jovanka op prangende vragen als: waarom sneed Van Gogh zijn oor af, was Jezus een goede timmerman en hoe gehorig zijn de muren van Suzanne Vega? Zoals steeds brengt ze haar stand-up in een charmante mix van Engels en Koeter-Vlaams.
Jovanka was te zien op in Comedy Casino [Canvas], Raymann is Laat [NPS] en stond zelfs op Pukkelpop. Voor haar verhuis naar België was ze professionele comedienne in Amerika en Groot-Brittanië. Velen staken al de loftrompet over haar:

Adventures in Europe-Land is Jovanka Steele‘s first “European” show, in which she talks about her escape from the USA and about her former countrymen and women, who she understands less and less. After ten years in Europe, she notices that talking to Americans is a little bit “like hanging around the monkeys she evolved from”. Adventures in Europe-Land is first and foremost a classic, funny stand-up show, with lots of character comedy and improvization. Why does Jovanka love cats? Why do people in Somalia not empathize with our Western weight issues and was Jesus a good carpenter? These are just a few of the many questions Jovanka answers in this show!
